Date | Dyddiad: 06.10.2025 Subject | Pwnc: Correction of the Record of Proceedings for the Plenary meeting on 20.09.25 Dear Llywydd,
I would like to explain why I have corrected the Plenary record following my response to the First Minister during the question session on Tuesday 20 September 2025. I have been campaigning on two issues related to the impact of tips and industrial waste on communities in my region, namely the demolition of the school building at Ysgol Godre’r Graig amid concerns over the safety of an old quarry tip located above the community, and concerns regarding the safety of the East Pit opencast mine – a type of waste that I have argued should be part of the Welsh Government’s Disused Mine and Quarry Tips (Wales) Bill. My supplementary question to the First Minister inquired about the Government’s support for an application to erect a new building for Ysgol Godre’r Graig. However, when responding to the First Minister’s initial answer about the Disused Mine and Quarry Tips (Wales) Bill, I mixed up the two issues and stated, incorrectly, that quarry tips were not covered by the new legislation. I have already corrected the record, but I wanted to clarify, through this letter, that this was an error stemming from the situation that I outlined above, rather than an attempt to mislead. I also wish to emphasise that the wider points made in my supplementary question about the situation regarding Ysgol Godre’r Graig remain entirely valid, despite this error.
