On 29 June 2022, the council wrote to the Minister for Education and Welsh Language explaining the new administration’s wish to review the decision and seeking a meeting with him to establish what information the Welsh Ministers would require in order to consider giving “consent” to the review. It has since been clarified by the council that the Welsh Ministers’ consent is not legally required for any review, but the council wishes in any case to engage with the Welsh Government in the course of reviewing the decision.
