Hi Thank you for meeting myself and at such short notice today – this was much appreciated. It was rewarding to see how you manage your respective tips portfolio to ensure you keep the public safe and provide reassurance. Your knowledge, dedication and professional approach was clear to see. I thought it would be useful to summarise the actions from our discussions today.

You confirmed your support to the project to standardise an approach to tip management across Wales in line with the aims of WG and OSSW Your agreement to supply electronic copies of;

1. Your tips portfolio template and respective inspections schedules/programme – the excel files we discussed/reviewed today
2. Copies of polices/procedures you use to manage your portfolio
3. Details of how you categories your tips, whether this be ABCD or 1234 categorisations – and the criteria you use to determine the ranking for each tip
4. Details of the approach you adopt to manage privately owner tips

With respect to GIS data layer – can you please ensure your GIS ‘expert’ contacts our GIS ‘expert’ to discuss how we receive these models – this is a priority for us and a contact today (Tuesday 3 March) would be fantastic a. can be contacted by email on @coal.gov.uk or via landline on or via mobile on Our offer to share TCA tip inspection results for our owned tips within your boundaries to free up your resources and prevent ‘doubling up inspections’ Your offer to support and participate in a proposed ‘tips forum’ workshop to help shape what a coordinated future looks like I reiterate our offer to undertake inspections of your cat C/D tips while your resources are engaged elsewhere managing the impacts of the recent unprecedented weather events. We can coordinate these inspections working under your direction and on your behalf.
